We are breeders of American and Giant Chinchilla Rabbits. We are members of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, American Chinchilla Rabbit Breeders Association and West Coast American Chinchilla Rabbit Club. We strive to produce American Chinchillas that are correct in conformation and fur type, adhering to the ARBA standard of perfection and showing our American chinchillas at ARBA recognized rabbit shows. We use our American chinchillas for pet, show, fur and meat production. We usually have American Chinchilla rabbits and Giant Chinchilla rabbits available for sale and are always happy to introduce new comers into our Chinchilla community! Our rabbits lines contain some of the best American Chinchilla lines in the United States as do our Giant Chinchillas!!! We have H Acres, Young, Crystal, Steven, Reichert, Doyle, FLF, Walt's, WAB's. We have also exported several of are Champion rabbits to other countries including Malaysia and the Philippines.

American ChinchillasThe American Chinchilla rabbit originated in Saint Maur, France. In 1919 they were brought to the United States. Chinchillas were much sought after for it's stunning fur. After the decline of the fur industry the Am Chin nearly became extinct. This now rare breed of rabbit is considered to be critically endangered by the American Livestock Breed Conservancy. The American Chinchilla is a great rabbit to use for meat production. They are docile and friendly, produce large litters and are excellent mothers. Mature does weight in at 10-12lbs and mature bucks weigh in at 9-11lbs.

(We are not currently raising giant chins) The Giant Chinchilla Rabbit was created in America in 1921. It is a descendant of the Chinchilla Giaganta, which is known as the "Heavy-Weight" or American Chinchilla. The ideal Giant Chinchilla should weigh, when mature, 13-14 lbs for bucks and 14-15lbs for does. These mature weights make for ideal meat rabbits.

I descended from the English breed known as the Chinchilla Giaganta, which incidentally corresponds to the so called "Heavy-Weight" or American Chinchilla. When being shown across the middle west they caused and still are causing a sensation. The first Giant Chinchilla was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on Christmas Day in 1921. Her very proud creator was Edward H. Stahl. She was exhibited the following year and was called the Million Dollar Princess. Now the breed is called the Million Dollar Rabbit. Stahl perfected this breed by using over weight Chinchillas and White Flemish Giants, just to name a couple of breeds used. The Giant Chinchilla has been purebred for over 45 years. The ideal Giant Chinchilla should weigh, when fully mature, 13-14 pounds for bucks. Does at maturity should weigh 14-15 pounds. It is a proven fact that rabbits that weigh from 12-15 pounds at maturity have generally been accepted as the ideal meat producing rabbit. Benefits of owning and raising the Giant Chinchilla. The Giant Chinchilla grows very fast when young and will weigh between 5-6 pounds when only 8 weeks old and 7-9 pounds at 12 weeks old. Giant Chinchillas have no competition when it comes to producing meat fast and cost efficiently. Feeding cost is low! Giant Chinchillas are equipped for handling a considerable amount of hay, which is low in cost and they will not consume more pellets than other commercial breeds. Remember that, although called a Giant, it is only in comparison with the smaller Chinchilla varieties. |
